I hopped on the coughsandboxcough and as soon as I landed I typed /achievement and sure enough, up pops a new achievement screen. The layout is really simple and self explanatory, but what you do with the points is still unknown. I am sure this is another one of Blizzards way of gearing people up, and frankly I like the idea. Take a look, I only took SS’s of the tabs that had something on them; there are some that are still blank.
As usual developer Blizzard Entertainment starts their alpha tests with a small group of friends and family. But it seems one of them couldn't keep his/her mouth shut about the alpha test of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, since several details has been leaked towards the internet.
Welcome to the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Friends and Family Alpha. The list below contains information on the current available content available for testing and general information. This information is subject to change.
In an interview about Wrath of the Lich King, the upcoming expansion for World of Warcraft, producer J. Allen Brack said that in the future the World of Warcraft will get an update of its graphics engine.
"Will we need a graphical update from the ground up at some point? Yep, probably," he said.
Wrath of the Lich King will be getting a more modest revamp, with some optional new effects for players with high-end PCs. But, said Brack, overhauling the engine completely was considered, and will be again.
"That's actually something we talk about every expansion," he said. "I'm positive we'll talk about it next expansion."
However, he is not sure that it is really necessary, since in the past players didn't always like such a graphical improvement.
"A lot of people continued to play with the original client, because it was faster, or they preferred it, or were just used to it or whatever," he said. "And so for me as a game developer, the idea that we would spend so much time and energy on something and have people go, 'meh, that's not really for me,' that's not very exciting."
